NCD is co-hosting the following event:

AN INVITATION TO THE AIR CARRIER ACCESS ACT 25th ANNIVERSARY

The 25th anniversary of the signing of the Air Carrier Access Act will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the west atrium of the Department of Transportation (DOT) Headquarters Building, located at 1200 New Jersey Avenue, S.E., in Washington, D.C.  This event, which DOT is hosting jointly with the Air Transport Association and the National Council on Disability (NCD), will feature speakers such as Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, former Congressman and Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, and NCD Chairman Jonathan Young, as well as representatives of U.S. and non-U.S. airlines and disability rights organizations.

We ask that interested people indicate their intention to attend this event by Thursday, November 3, 2011, using our online registration form at http://airconsumer.dot.gov/forum/acaa.cfm.  You will need to provide your name, company/organization name, telephone number, email address, and any needed reasonable accommodations (e.g., sign language interpreter, large print, wheelchair/scooter or service animal space, etc.).  In addition, you should note in the accommodation section if you would prefer designated seating in an area reserved for people with allergies (including animals) or chemical sensitivity.  Space is limited at this event so we ask that no more than two individuals from one organization attend. Participants must be pre-registered before the event.

For our out-of-town guests, the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is the closest airport to the event site.  Once in the Washington D.C. area, transportation to the forum can be by taxi, public transportation, or personal vehicle.  The DOT Headquarters Building is located directly across from the Navy Yard metro (green line) station. See www.wmata.com for more details.  If you decide to drive, parking is available at various public parking lots for $6.00 to $12.00, paid directly to the facility attendant.  We encourage you to take public transportation because traffic may be heavy and parking options will be limited.

We hope you can make it, and I look forward to seeing everyone on November 9th.  If you have any questions or need additional information, you can call us at 202-366-9342 or send us an email at ACAA2011@dot.gov.
