National Council on Disability To Host Civil Rights Strategy Session

WASHINGTON--The National Council on Disability (NCD) will host a civil rights strategy session--NCD Think Tank 2000: Coalitions for Advancing the Civil and Human Rights of People with Disabilities from Diverse Cultures--May 18-20 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia.

Confirmed officials and leaders who will give opening day remarks beginning at 9:00 a.m. are acting assistant attorney general for civil rights Bill Lann Lee; chair of the Congressional Black Caucus James E. Clyburn; Congressman Major Owens; and executive director of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Wade Henderson.

This working session is designed to develop a strategic plan to combat the myriad challenges faced by minority Americans with disabilities. Invited participants include leaders from diverse cultures, a broad coalition of people representing grassroots disability rights and traditional civil and human rights groups, as well as members of Congress and Administration officials.
