WASHINGTON--The National Council on Disability (NCD) is conducting regional community briefings around the country to share findings and recommendations on federal enforcement of disability civil rights laws with people with disabilities. The next briefing will take place in Federal Region V (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin) on September 28, 2000, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers, 301 East North Water Street, Chicago, Illinois. This meeting, which is open to the public and free of charge, will focus on NCD's new Ten-Point Strategy for the Next Decade of Disability Civil Rights Enforcement (www.ncd.gov/newsroom/publications/gap1.html). The National Family for the Advancement of Minorities with Disabilities and the Department of Disability and Human Development (DDHD) at the University of Illinois are assisting NCD in coordinating this event.
