National Council on Disability to Conduct Meetings in Myrtle Beach

WASHINGTON--The National Council on Disability (NCD) will conduct its next quarterly meeting February 5-6, 2001, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Landmark Resort Hotel, 1501 South Ocean Boulevard, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

During the meeting, NCD will also conduct a community briefing for people with disabilities on February 6, 2001, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The briefing will focus on NCD's latest findings and recommendations on federal disability civil rights laws.

NCD is an independent federal agency making recommendations to the President and Congress on disability policy. It is currently coordinating a multi-year study on the implementation and enforcement of several disability civil rights laws. NCD's recently issued reports on the Air Carrier Access Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act are available on its Web site (www.ncd.gov).
