WASHINGTON—The National Council on Disability
(NCD) will highlight the 14th anniversary of the Americans with
Disabilities Act and the 20th anniversary of NCD as an independent
federal agency at an invitation-only event on Saturday, July 24,
2004, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at The John F. Kennedy Center
for the Performing Arts, 2700 F Street, NW, Washington, DC.

Adjournment
NCD is an independent federal agency making recommendations
to the President and Congress on disability policy. In its 1986
report Toward Independence, NCD first
proposed that Congress should enact a civil rights law for people
with disabilities. In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act
was signed into law.
