National Council on Disability to Release Recommendations on How to Improve Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities Receiving Social Security Benefits
What:
The National Council on Disability (NCD) will release its report The Social Security Administration’s Efforts to Promote Employment for People with Disabilities–New Solutions for Old Problems at a news conference and Congressional briefing.
Upwards of 70 percent of Americans with disabilities remain unemployed, despite the fact that many are willing and able to work. Although the Social Security Administration has instituted a number of incentives to reduce the numerous obstacles to employment faced by its Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiaries, such efforts have been found to have had little impact. NCD reports on new approaches and collaborations to improve program efficiencies.
When:
November 30, 2005
11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Where:
Committee on House Administration Hearing Room
1310 Longworth House Office Building
Independence and New Jersey Avenues, SE
Washington, DC
