National Council on Disability to Release Recommendations on Improving Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities Receiving Social Security Benefits

WASHINGTON—The National Council on Disability (NCD) will release its report The Social Security Administration’s Efforts to Promote Employment for People with Disabilities–New Solutions for Old Problems at a news conference and Congressional briefing at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at the Committee on House Administration Hearing Room, 1310 Longworth House Office Building, Independence and New Jersey Avenues, SE, Washington, DC.

Speakers include:

Linda Wetters, Member, NCD

Susan Daniels, former Deputy Commissioner for Disability and Income Security Programs, Social Security Administration

Dr. John Kregel, Ed.D., Chairman, Department of Special Education and Disability Policy and Research; and Director, Virginia Commonwealth University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Workplace Supports

Ethel Zelenske, Director of Government Affairs, National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives; and co-Chair, Consortium on Citizens with Disabilities Social Security Task Force

Djuna Parmley Mitchell, Consumer Legal Affairs Counselor, ENDependence Center of Northern Virginia

Members of Congress and staff are welcome. This meeting is open to the public and free of charge.
