Data and comparisons are listed for the most recent school year (i.e., dropout data for student groups) public data are available. Regular education dropout data are derived from Table 1 of the National Center For Education Statistics' report "Public High School Dropouts and Completers from the Common Core of Data: School Years 1998-99 and 1999-2000" referenced as NCES 2002-382. Special education dropout data are derived from Table AD1 of the 23rd Annual Report to the U.S. Congress on the Implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The following data reflects state dropout data for each State. There are three numbers listed for each State. The first number lists the dropout percentage rate for Students-Regular education. The second number lists the dropout percentage rate for Students-Special Education. The third number lists the dropout differential or ratio of Students-Regular Education to Students-Special Education. When dropout data for States were not listed in the reports used to construct this table, that data is depicted as "n/a" or not available.
