REMARKS by JUDGE HUGHEY WALKER Hughey Walker Thank you, Marca. Good morning everyone. My thanks to all of you for being with us this morning, and on behalf of the National Council on Disability, I want to express our gratitude to the National Urban League for its statement of support. We are here on behalf of children, but for me this news conference has special meaning. I am an African American with a disability. What I know we all find troubling is that minorities with disabilities get hit with discrimination twice. Twice, because they have a disability, and because they are a minority. As for minority children with disabilities, they get hit very hard, and they don't deserve it. It isn't fair, it isn't right and it is un-American. We anticipate that our report will have major impact on the way all of our children with disabilities are educated. Let's stop doing wrong to our kids. Let's do the right thing - not the easy thing - and educate all our children. Thank you. HOME | FAQs | NEWSROOM | SITE MAP | FEDERAL AGENCIES | RESOURCES |
