NCD announces death of Chairman Andrés Gallegos

WASHINGTON – The National Council on Disability, with great sadness, announces the death of Chairman Andrés J. Gallegos, who passed away Dec. 1. 

Gallegos was appointed to the Council Feb. 7, 2018, by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and took his oath of office Feb. 22, 2018. President Joseph R. Biden Jr. designated him chairman Jan. 20, 2021. 

Vice Chair Claudia Gordon will serve as acting Chair for the Council.
