NCD announces next Council meeting May 29-30 in NYC

WASHINGTON– Start spreading the news, as the members of the National Council on Disability (NCD) will visit the Big Apple for their next two-day in-person Council meeting on Thursday, May 29, 2025, 9:30 a.m.– 4:45 p.m., EDT and Friday, May 30, 2025, 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., EDT.

The quarterly Council meeting takes place at the JW Marriott Essex House (Tivoli Room), 160 Central Park South, New York, NY 10019. The meeting is open to the public and will be in-person only.

The May 29 meeting will include policy updates and discussion on proposals for the agency’s Fiscal Year 2026 policy projects; a panel on employment of youth with disabilities; a panel on youth and younger adults in nursing homes; Council member report outs; a public comment session focused on youth and younger adults in nursing homes and major developments in disability policy; followed by adjournment.

The May 30 meeting is NCD’s business meeting. Council members and staff will receive Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) training, followed by the Chairman’s report and Executive Committee Report, and an agency strategic plan discussion before adjourning.

NCD uses public input to inform recommendations to the President, Congress, federal state, local and tribal policymakers on issues that impact Americans with disabilities.

For the May 29 Council meeting, NCD will have an in-person public comment period of 45 minutes and requests comments from the public regarding the experiences of youth and younger adults in nursing homes and for our 2025 Progress Report focused on the most notable disability policy developments since Summer 2024.
